On Oct 24th, Newham Council and University of College London agreed to join forces in destroying the Carpenters Estate. UCL gets a new campus and Newham Council makes money at the expense of the residents. Once again, the Council shows that is not on the side of the local community. The fight is not over by any means. Both residents and lecturers and students at UCL are continuing the fight. They are holding an open meeting at UCL on October 31st at 6 Pm in the AV lecture Theatre at the Main Campus in Bloomsbury.
The latest edition of The Howler is out now. The main theme of Issue 11 is the Olympic legacy, looking at the impact through the eyes of local campaigns. If you would like hard copies to distribute, please e-mail us. Otherwise, it will soon be on the blog to download.
